It is your website. If you are happy with it then leave it as it is. If you want to change something then go ahead. It is an expression of your individuality and if your friends think you could do better then let them get on with making their own...

I would say the golden rule is keep things simple and straight forward with good pictures and clear text. Make sure all links work and be happy with it yourself because you are designing it for yourself.

It is very basic and does not look professional. I don't know if this is what you're going for and there is only so much a small private site can look professional unless you have all the expensive programmes.

I would check out some other people's sites, ones your friends think look good, and maybe "borrow" some ideas from there. After all, there are no new ideas anymore. They are all just taken from other people in different quantities. Good luck and give us a shout out when it's done!

I enjoyed my visit to your site. It followed the basic rules as far as I'm concerned. However a little tweeking may help. Such as having hyperlinks change colour when "Mouse over" occurs. But apart from that; good job.
My basic rule for many creative ideas is K.I.S.S.
Keep It Simple Stupid.
Well done.

As a designer, I think your site is fine. The background is somewhat distracting but I wouldn't change it for a personal site. A business yes. I think its groovy, baby.

i think the background is very dull , sorry to offend but you can only just see the guy walking its boring . what about skate borders on street scene or even red light district , something happening ..

I think it looks fine, as long as the text is easy to read, the rest is personal preference.

i think, instead of having the brown background, you should have the picture to cover all of the background

ditch your friends, it's your website, not theirs!
