2 Possibilities:
1. Sound-card driver corrupted. Reinstall the driver (you may need to download driver from sound-card or laptop manufacturer website, if you don't have CD or some sort when you purchase the laptop)
2. Sound-card faulty. Send to sound-card or laptop manufacturer for repair.

I ll say u three ways of getting it done...........
1) right click on 'My Computer' an dcheck out for the hardware device. if there is no audio device found then go for the second way.
2) Restore ur laptop to an early poitn setup by u or install ur audio hardware devices.
3) after all u just reboot ur laptop with ur laptop OS cd, thats how you can get it.
I have attained the similar problem few months ago i really can't do anything but to reboot my OS.

well the speakers are internal u may want to go to the device manager to look and see what the sound device is so that u are able to reload the drivers, otherwise a suggestion would be to go to the website of the manufacturer and type in ur model number so that u can maybe look up what it came with and find out what they are that way and then look for the drivers, if u need help log into yahoo messnger and add me

Try a restart first. Then go and reinstall/update the audio drives. If this doesn't help, take it to a shop. It may be a hardware problem.

it does not need professional help however this would help, i cant remeber completely so bare with me but you go on control panel, then audio and sound devices, then properties go on hardware, click on all installed if it says all are working its fine just ajust the system volume. however iof one is not working properly go on trouble shoot, this should give you the answers you need. hjep and suport will open. hope this helps it certainly did for me.

laptops are prone to losing drivers when people run clean-up software through them(like ccleaner),as they sometimes think audio drivers are unnessesary files ,its happened to me ,i lost my pcmcia driver on my compaq amarda and it was hard to reinstall them
in your case ,if you have a copy of the audio drivers ,just use add hardware wizard and this should re-install the drivers, but if you cant find the cd-rom,you will find your drivers on http://www.softpedia.com/#software,these have a massive libary of drivers free to download
good luck
