I find that many programs automatically send the files to My Documents and it is on C drive. When a virus attacks, the C drive is the victim. When Formatting is done, previous files unless backed up, are lost. If these files were on D drive, this area whould be safe.

Is there a method of creating this by pass to a new Drive?

Yes you can. You can always configure a software program where to save or retrieve your data files. For example in MS Word, you can go to Tools, Options, File Locations. Then modify the Documents location to D drive and folder (that you will create). I am sure other programs has this too feature too.

Sure. Open the C drive window that shows the My Documents folder. Open a second window for the D drive. Minimize the windows and line them up in such a way that you can see the My Documents folder and the place on the D drive where you want to put it. Then just click on the My Documents folder and drag it to where you would like it on the D drive. It will copy where you put it on your D drive, provided you have enough available space on that drive. That's it; you're done.

You can back up the files into an external hard drive or ipod so that any time you need these files you can connect the usb to access your files without formatting. or you can share/ partition your hard drive into different sections and copy your documents into the mini drives but I feel this method will not work because your C drive is easily affected and partitioning it might not help so I think you should copy to an external hard drive...

If you right click on the My Documents icon on the start menu/desktop and click 'move' that will move the folder and updates most programs to the new location
