Taiwan is actually part of China before Generallissimo Chiang kai Chek took over the island when he was forced to leave the mainland by the communist army.

Taiwan ia supposed to be NOT a part of china..... taiwan became what she is now by own initiative of its people little less help from mainland china!!!

Mainland China likes to think so, but I think they should just give it up. Taiwan wants to be free and independent, and they should be allowed to be so. Look what happened when China took back control of Hong Kong!
