No, but it would be necessary for mankind to make wholesale changes in our utilization of natural resources, rethink our basic beliefs, and carefully manage our reproduction so as not to overtax the world.

At the current rate, we will use up all that we have before colonization of other planets becomes feasible. We'd best stop thinking of our planet as a giant paper cup to suck dry and cast aside, and start treating it like the only home we will ever have if we want to survive as a species.

It shouldn't be.No one should even be entertaining the idea.We should just worry about maintaining what we have.I think we should go back to basics. The Earth was fine when we had just enough.Just enough to get by on.Took longer, but was more fun. This computer is a little too much for me,and I wish I hadn't gotten used to it.I would be better off without it,and so would the planet. If we hadn't become so dependent on technology,we wouldn't be thinking about trying to rely on it to get us out of another bad situation. That idea should be given up on and the people that want to try it should work on cleaning up here. And they can turn off their lights more and walk to work.I really wish I had been Laura Ingalls!

In my opinion, it is not necessary for mankind to go wherever in space in order to survive because we didn't do a good job on earth...so do you think we can do a better job elsewhere?

Yes, because since most people don't really care about the environment, the earth is going to become a harmful place to live. We'll have to survive somewhere.

I think so.

At least two reasons - one actual, the other theoretical:

a) Overpopulation. No comment necessary.

b) _IF_ there is another species, we are very vulnerable, as a species, concentrated on a single planet.

No dear, that's just another way of suicide.
We're not meant to live in outer space ... earth is where we live.

there are many other universes and galaxies out there that we dont know about. sometimes i feel that we are not as advanced as we should be. eventually we will need to find a way to live on other planets or out in space.

Humans are eternal, you just don't remember anything from before you were born and can't see past your death so ppl get scared and strap themselves to giant rockets and shoot themselves into space because everyone here acts like selfish, scared animals.

I think that it would be necessary after a world calamity. I would rather not change the planet I live in.
