The best advice I can give you is listen to the others who have answered your question. There is alot of great advice there. Except "garwy", who stated "do what you will-that is the whole of the law". That is dangerous advice. I wouldn't recommend following it.

It's called Wicca not Wiccan. There are many traditions so you have to choose one;I suggest you start with that. Here is a modernized version of the Wiccan Reed, if you look closely it explains the religion, beliefs and holidays. Also, there is no such thing as white magic, that is a romantic but ignorant idea. Bide within the Law you must, in perfect Love and perfect Trust.
Live you must and let to live, fairly take and fairly give.

For tread the Circle thrice about to keep unwelcome spirits out.
To bind the spell well every time, let the spell be said in rhyme.

Light of eye and soft of touch, speak you little, listen much.
Honor the Old Ones in deed and name,
let love and light be our guides again.

Deosil go by the waxing moon, chanting out the joyful tune.
Widdershins go when the moon doth wane,
and the werewolf howls by the dread wolfsbane.

When the Lady's moon is new, kiss the hand to Her times two.
When the moon rides at Her peak then your heart's desire seek.

Heed the North winds mighty gale, lock the door and trim the sail.
When the Wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast.

When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss you on the mouth.
When the wind whispers from the West, all hearts will find peace and rest.

Nine woods in the Cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow.
Birch in the fire goes to represent what the Lady knows.

Oak in the forest towers with might, in the fire it brings the God's
insight. Rowan is a tree of power causing life and magick to flower.

Willows at the waterside stand ready to help us to the Summerland.
Hawthorn is burned to purify and to draw faerie to your eye.

Hazel-the tree of wisdom and learning adds its strength to the bright fire burning.
White are the flowers of Apple tree that brings us fruits of fertility.

Grapes grow upon the vine giving us both joy and wine.
Fir does mark the evergreen to represent immortality seen.

Elder is the Lady's tree burn it not or cursed you'll be.
Four times the Major Sabbats mark in the light and in the dark.

As the old year starts to wane the new begins, it's now Samhain.
When the time for Imbolc shows watch for flowers through the snows.

When the wheel begins to turn soon the Beltane fires will burn.
As the wheel turns to Lamas night power is brought to magick rite.

Four times the Minor Sabbats fall use the Sun to mark them all.
When the wheel has turned to Yule light the log the Horned One rules.

In the spring, when night equals day time for Ostara to come our way.
When the Sun has reached it's height time for Oak and Holly to fight.

Harvesting comes to one and all when the Autumn Equinox does fall.
Heed the flower, bush, and tree by the Lady blessed you'll be.

Where the rippling waters go cast a stone, the truth you'll know.
When you have and hold a need, harken not to others greed.

With a fool no season spend or be counted as his friend.
Merry Meet and Merry Part bright the cheeks and warm the heart.

Mind the Three-fold Laws you should three times bad and three times good.
When misfortune is enow wear the star upon your brow.

Be true in love this you must do unless your love is false to you.

These Eight words the Rede fulfill:

"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

CT~I find it highly improbable that you had anything to do with that person's death. Only a very high-level witch can do such things. I think this was probably more along the lines of coincidence, rather than any power on your part. This is more in the lines of Chaos magick, and I doubt very seriously that you have any skill at that whatsoever. Also, you are very confused. Witchcraft has nothing to do with the "devil"; the devil is a Christian deity, and a made-up one at that. So why would we worship that? Witchcraft is white magick. Obviously you were seriously misinformed.

Garwy~You are quoting the tenets of Satanism; which is not really the worship of the devil but the worship of yourself. You and CT ought to get together, perhaps in your mass confusion you could figure something out.

All you need to do, young lady, is do a short prayer to the God and Goddess, stating your desire to follow their path. Give yourself a name that you will use in doing rituals or spells. This is the name that the God and Goddess will know you by; never tell anyone outside of your Circle, if you happen to join one, what your magick name is. Then begin studying the art of Wicca. There is much to learn and much to know. Is there dark magick? Oh, yes. There are those who can walk the line between light and dark, without harm to themselves. It is like anything, for every light side there must be a dark side. But generally, Wiccans practice white magick only. This is not to say that you cannot return someone's negative energies to them; you certainly can.

The Wiccan Rede is: Harm None.

(but if someone is trying to harm you, through no fault of your own, you can send them their own poison right back)

Why don't you want your father to know , is it because he's christian. I've been down that path before and it looks all fun and romantic, and fairy tale stuff, but it's not ,don't let anyone tell you wicca , witches, and the devil are not all conected, I was there I was raised in a christian home but i got involved with all of what you are getting into, and i was told that the devil, and wicca were not related . it's a lie . Bad things will happen,I read tarrot cards, did the ojei board, did spells, i even joined a school in south carolina and it was surpose to be white magic, but it was a school for witches, it all the same you are trying to controle someone or something againt there will. so don't do it,I stopped because something keep telling me it was wrong, and I felt like i was betraying everything i'd been taught and believed in,you can only serve one master, i choise God.My turning point was when i wished some one dead and read their cards, and they were in a car wreck the next night, and died 3 months later, and he was in a coma the whole time. I couldn't do any of that stuff after that ,and I regret it to this day, thank
God im now serving God and I'm very sorry I ever went the other way, I almost died during that time to ,i tried to kill myself, if I had suceed, like the devil led me to do , i'd be in hell right now. PLEASE think this over very carefully before you do this, I'm going to pray for your safety, and that you will come to the right choise.God be with you.

(1) Spend more time in natural surroundings. Listen. Watch. See if there are any teachings for you.
(2) Start praying to the Spirit of the Universe, however you conceive of Her, Him, or It (Male, Female, Both, & Neither); let the relationship grow.
(3) Read Diane Sylvan's book *The Circle Within* and Scott Cunningham's book *Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner* as a good beginning-place for your studies. Avoid drek like Raven SilverWolf.
(4) When you are ready, start looking for a real mentor to teach you things. It might help to start by looking around for others holding public ceremonies that you might attend.

If your interest in Wicca is motivated by a desire to have a deepened sense of the sacredness of the Universe, rather than a desire to be perceived in some particular (perhaps shocking) way by observers, you will naturally grow into this spiritual path if it is right for you.

Good luck. Blessed be.

Wicca is a wonderful and beautiful way of life, and i would encourage anyone and everyone to take a look at it. But your situation has one problem. Wicca is about empowering yourself, and you can't do that if you fear your father's wrath. You can read all the books, and practice all the rituals, but you won't really be wiccan until you are able to do so without fear or shame. I don't know your father, but he will either understand, or he won't. He'll either hug you and say 'that's okay' or he'll yell, scream, and tell you you're going to hell. You haev to decide if being wiccan is worth the price. All things take sacrifice. some more than others.

It's really easy, actually. There are only a couple necessary beliefs in Wicca. First of all, is the main rule, "Harm none (that includes yourself), and do what you will." The second is the threefold law, which means that whatever you do, whether good or bad, comes back to you three times over. If you live life by these principles, feel free to consider yourself Wiccan. :)

the strong form of the wiccan rede is: 'do what you like. this is the whole law.'

there is also a weaker form - for amateurs and children - which states: 'do what you like - as long as nobody gets hurt by it.'

since the essential belief of wicca is that it is good to be selfish you have made an excellent start by deciding to lie to your father about this. you already are a wiccan: you are doing what you want, with as little regard for other people as you think you can get away with.

it won't make you happy. there are complex and far-reaching reasons why being selfish never makes anyone happy.

but perhaps you have reached a stage in your life where you need to find this out for yourself.

There really is no hard work involved! It is all in your heart and your joy of communing with the earth and ancient GODDESSes. You dad never need know what is in your heart. If you want to learn about Wicca, there are numerous websites. There are many Wiccans who do not cast spells, if that is what you mean by the hard work part of your question. I don't cast spells. I worship my Goddess through meditation and prayer and communion with her in the outdoors. I do not even perform rituals during the Pagan holy days. I mark them with quiet reflection and maybe a special meal. I am a solitary Pagan and have been since I was 28, 9 years now. No one has never known whom I have not told. I have a few statues of my matron Goddess in my home and people who see them don't tend to think anything about them. I think they just think they are interesting.

There are many good websites and books available out there. I was raised Catholic-even went to a Catholic school growing up, but as I got older, some of their teachings made no sense to me. I started reading everything about different beliefs. I now believe many different things from many different cultures. My heart now mostly believes in the wiccan system as I believe what the creed says most- First-DO NO HARM! True wiccans would never harm another, no person, place or thing! We believe the creator created everything-rocks to people, so in that, they all deserve respect! Learn all you can before jumping in though as it's still believed that we associate with the devil! Personally, I don't believe in the "devil" anymore- I believe that all we see wrong is just our own perceptions of a situation. God made the world and everything in it in his likeness-perfect as is, with a purpose. Be Strong and Blessed.

It's not an easy road, but through my wife, I know several young people in your position. One girl, who I met about six weeks ago in real life, her family is Catholic, she went to a Catholic School, and yet she is exploring wicca for herself. My wife should be able to help you, she follows the Wiccan Reed, which essentially reads - Harm No One. If you contact me directly, I will refer you to a site that will put you in direct contact with my wife and her network of others who also follow the Reed. Some are in covens, others are solitary, but most are caring people who may have a lot of useful tips and advice, not just in keeping your choice of religion a secret, but in many things wiccan, and non-wiccan related.

I am not into Wicca myself, and I was a christian at one point in my life. Having seen both sides of this issue, I prefer not to judge or warn people away from one side or other. I wish you the very best in exploring your options spiritiually.
