Ethanol - CH 3 CH 2 OH a liquid at room temperature - good for drinking in a martini or adding to your cars gasoline to stretch our fuel supply
can be produced from corn. etc.
Propanone - CH3COCH3 a liquid at room temperature - good for nail polish remover. A simple ketone good for use as a solvent and in making plastics. Commonly called acetone. Some people claim if you add a small amount to your gasoline you get better fuel mileage. This is unproven and may be dangerous to practice without proper knowledge and a few spare engines. It can be produced by the oxidization of isopropyl alcohol
