Probably because seeking information about U.S. may make it possible for an emerging India to function well in the world. 50% of the world's population is in the combined area of India and China. They represent the future.

Probably because America is the world's leading superpower (for the moment) and people are curious about us. Also, there are many strange things going on concerning the fundamental principles of our Constitution and Democracy that are going to have repercussions worldwide.
