The problem is not the illegal immigrants what this country is made of - the problem is that there are so many and they are bringing their customs and language with and it is turning into Mexico as oppose to these people becoming Americans.
When my great grandparents came here - they immediately tried to follow the American way - they learned the language and then they only spoke it at home too - today I can't understand half the time what people are saying cuz they don't know English - not only that that ask me with surprise - what you don't know Spanish. If you are coming to a new country you should adopt the countries customs - also many people were turned away from American even when the Americans knew that their fate would be death - America has the right to preserve it's way of life - and when you have this many immigrants at once then they can also influence national policy. Just imagine if millions of Muslims wanted to immigrate - I'm not comparing the Mexicans to Muslims but if they are allowed to emigrate en mass that what is to prevent the Muslims from doing the same thing?

First of all, since when did "illegal immigration" became an issue? Post 9/11 right? Securing our borders from terrorists coming in to "our" country. Well ill tell you what. No terrorist in their right mind is going to bring a terrorist through a crowd running through the river. They are going to get here like they did in 9/11 legally through temporary visas or student permits. Or maybe through Canada were they have been aprehended many times before. Not one terrorist suspect has been aprehended coming from Mexico. If the vigilantes or so called minutemen want to save american lives, why dont you go to the borders of Syria and Iran where all the real terrorist are killing US soilders daily. And by the way, there are many hispanics serving in Iraq defending this country. What is ultimately goig to happen, is that instead of paying $2.00 for a melon, we are going to pay $8.00 for it very, very soon. Why cant we go against real problems like online predators instead of going after the 65 year old man mowing the lawn at 6 in the morning?

im·mi·grant
A person who leaves one country to settle permanently in another.
Most Americans were born in the U.S. and are not immigrants. And the ones that are immigrants are mostly "legal" immigrants. The problem is the "illegal" immgrants.

America has had both loose immigration and tight immigration.
OK, we've been living under the lose immigration, however, basic supply and demand ... it's time that we go back into the tight immigration. I really think G.W.'s politics on this are fair and just ... we need to respect human dignity, while setting up policy to control the immigration issues.

Well lets start with the fact that we now all of us immigrants speak english, not old english but a revised version. not spanglish or chinish or koreish. I find no problem with immigration my probem is that spanish is the fastest growing american language. Amazingly enough with all the immigrants in the past we have yet to change our language until now.

I think immigration should have some sort of controls, but the current set of rules needs revising.

What does "illegal" mean? Well, I think a home owner has the right to choose who gets to be invited to his party. The "illegals" would be gate crashers. Why are we Americans just standing there while these gate crashers help themselves to our food and drinks? Wouldn't you call 911?
