Every time I have ever gotten any type of x-ray done, I seem to get very lightheaded. I start to get very weak and I want to pass out. Is this normal? I don't know anyone else this happens to.

I used to have that problem. Now I repair X-ray equipment.

Here's the scoop:

At the start of an x-ray exposure you hear something that sounds like a motor that starts spinning. This is not causing any radiation or anything else, just noise. It is actually an internal metal disk inside the x-ray tube that has to spin at several thousand RPM. (Lots of technical reasons for that).
When the Tech takes the x-ray exposure a very short burst of x-ray is made. This usually last only about 2-10 milliseconds. That's about 1/100th of a second. You may hear a short beep during that time. I guarantee that you can not feel the x-rays. It's just the tube rotation sound that's freaking you out. No biggie!

YES! Every time I get an x-ray I become dizzy or light headed. Symptoms begin with minutes. And, yes, I stand away from the microwave, as well. However, my reaction to microwave is not as strong. This is real. We're not afraid of white jackets or the Dental Hygienist!

I don't think it is from the radiation, I think you might have something similiar to "white coat syndrome" , also known as the fear of doctors/nurses/hospitals, it can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, high blood pressure, weakness and sweats. I think that maybe you fear the x-ray is going to show something bad, or you are nervous, sometimes the pain from the x-ray manipulation is enough to make you want to pass out if you are in pain.

Hope that helps :)

That's not normal- you should see a doctor. It sounds like low blood pressure but could also be caused by the shock of the injury you've sustained in order to require the X ray

This happens to me too. I've been told that it can't happen but I ensure you this isn't a unique case
