all car rentals charge surcharge for 1 way rental because, unless someone else is doing the same 1 way rental from LA to CHI from that company, then they have just depleted their fleet by 1 car unless they send someone to drive it back. So since they lose money, u will depart from more of your money too!...that's y it's better to fly or if u cant because of having to haul stuff, call uhaul and rent their smallest van, they might come out a little cheaper because they're use to 1 way trips in their business. their still is a surcharge, but it might be less.

Car rental places charge you extra for leaving the state you got te car & they charge you for returning the car to a different station & they charge that the diferent station in in a ifferent state. Since they charge for EVERYTHING, then you get it with a BIG bill.

Rent a moving truck, they don't charge anything to leave it at a different state.....may not be luxury but you won't pay too much either
