Mexico is in both, but the part of North America beggins from the real centre of the country near to the city called Queretaro and the Central America, beggins at the Sierra Mountains of Puebla in the "nudo mixteco" (node mixteco) about 300km to the south of Mexico City.

I say it's part of North America. That's how it's taught in school, North America consists of Canada, United States and Mexico. And Central America consists of all the other little countries under Mexico. But hey, that's just my opinion. ^_^

North America, and the idea of "continents" is OUTDATED.

Mexico is part of "North America." Hence, NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) needed to include Mexico because of its large markets.

Central America is part of "North America." It's not part of NAFTA because of its small markets and the investments needed to improve it if economic integration were to begin in 1995.

The terms now in use are cultural/historical terms, making cultural regions the preferred method of classifying the earth. Again, the idea of continents are outdated. There is no objective, physical reason that "Europe" should not really just be classified as a small peninsula of Asia.

Therefore, the US and Canada are referred to as "Anglo-America." This is a more demographic approach.

Most of the countries (BUT NOT ALL) from Mexico down south are referred to as "Latin America," but only of they speak Spanish or Portuguese. Haiti is sometimes included as part of Latin America, although it speaks Creole, which is derived mostly from French.

There are countries/colonies in Central America, South America and the Caribbean that speak English, Dutch, and French, that are not part of "Latin America." Therefore not all of "South America" are Latino people.

This is why cultural regions are replacing the notion of continents, although this might take 50 years. Before the ideas of continents, we used terms like "Orient" and "East" much more than we do now.

Both.
But there is no continent known as Central America, just South America & Central America.
There are many ways to look at this.
Historically & culturally Mexico is more closely related to Central America.
Financially Mexico is part of North America.
And on & on....
Viva el Norte!

Central America is every country from and including Panama up to Mexico. Mexico and all of Centra America are in the North American continent. You're probably thinking of Latin America (everything south of the USA except for Belise, Surinam, Guyana, and French Guiana).

There are two correct answers.

1. Geographically, Mexico is part of North America, along with Canada and the U.S.

2. Demographically (the study of population dynamics), North America is comprised of Canada and the U.S. only.

Assuming that most people are not demographers, generally people should think of the country as part of North America.
