how do you find inspiration to write a song?

what do you do to keep yourself inspired? how do you write? what's your favorite type of song? why?

If I need inspiration to write I will go to the artists that inspire me the most. Sometimes you have to go back and remember why you fell in love with music in the first place. Usual after listening to some of their music for awhile I am ready to create. If you get an idea for a song write it down immediately. If you can write a lead for immediatly and get it recorded or down on paper. Then just continue to work on your idea until you have created a song. Sometimes it's easier to work with someone else.

Sometimes I'm inspired by things that are really meaningful for me. Sometimes I'm inspired by my mood, or a random line that comes to mind. My writing is a little choppy, but that's the way I like it. I write rock/emo music. It depends on your point of view and the song. I never really have to keep myself inspired because I can look at my guitar and be inspired. I love songs you can read the lyrics to and automatically put music to it.

most i get the inspiration from everything that happen around..cause you can write so many thing about it..life,love,or war... i just need to write what my opinion bout it and make it became a lyrics...my favorite type of song was anything..as long is good to hear ya,

I write Christian Rock music, so my inspiration is the Bible. One of the best places to turn is the book of Psalms. There is so much there to be inspired by!

I get my best inspiration from something that is really important to me or something touches my heart. I play folk/rock, so that is the style that I write in. I like the style because it is pleasant to listen to, for me. Everyone's taste is different though. Some may prefer rock, classical, jazz, blues...etc. Do what feels right to you. Just have fun with it. Sooner or later, you'll get the hang of it, and when you do it's like magic!
