is it legal to download a live concert version of a song that was not released. is this not stealing because the artist/band does not try to sell the audio from the music being played in concert??

how can someone steal it if it wasn't possible to buy?

No, it's not illegal. Because I have the Destiny's Child concert on my I Pod. And I downloaded it from Limewire, which is a harmless music program. It's free and better than any other program

It is perfectly legal to download from the "Live Concerts Archive".
These bands have understood the benefits of distribution on the Internet.

Yes, unfortunately it is illegal unless all three of the songwriters, performers and whoever made the recording gave permission to distribute freely. All three have to agree on that.

In response to other comments: downloading from Limewire doesn't make it legal (most content on p2p networks isn't legal, sorry to say), and yes it is very much copyrighted.

Probably, but I'm not sure. Everything is piracy these days, even lending my CDs to friends. It's not like the Feds are gunna come after you for downloadin like 10 songs off Limewire or anything. Just don't worry about it...
