Besides the possibility of having a warrant, the odds are your drivers license is suspended! Regardless whether you still have it in your possession. Not only will you get arrested on the FTA but you can also be charged with driving under suspension which will cause just as much if not more headaches than the FTA which is usually dismissed when you appear in court. The suspension stays with you and has nothing to do with the court. It is an administrative penalty from the department of Motor vehicle. So I don't suggest you drive until the FTA are taken care of and you serve the 30, 60 or 90 day license suspension. In Louisiana, its 90 days and if you are "charged" with driving under suspension then the license is suspended for a full year and can be revoked for subsequent charges if occurred in that year.

I dispatched police for years...here is what to do. Call the court (municipal court for the town/area where you were written the ticket). Tell them you have a FTA (failure to appear) warrant for a traffic citation. A warrant is just a judge's way of saying 'get yourself to court and handle this'. You will have to make arrangements to pay the ticket, but better than being arrested.

it depends on what state u are in, and what the ticket was for. If its serious like reckless driving, u could have a warrant for your arrest called a capias. and when u next encounter the cops they take you into custody. Otherwise if its less serious, your license can be suspended for failure to pay fines and again if you get stopped, your car gets towed and u get another ticket. I know this stuff because its my job, sorry for the bad news

Call City Hall, as someone has already suggested. To verify the bench warrant, then call the clerks office to arrangement of the fines. Depending on you state and city, they make just accept the payment and suspend sentence for failure to appear.
Good Luck......... if all else fails get an attorney.

There May be a chance there is a warrant...some counties
and states are slow on that stuff.
Call the county courthouse you dont have to give your
name and ask if there is a warrant out for your name.
They will say yes or no. At least that's how it is here.

Yep, if your tickets have gone to warrant, if you get pulled over for anything, they can take your butt to jail. And what do you mean your first tickets. I drove for 20 yrs. before I had a ticket, and that is the only one I ever had.

Some states have occasional amnesty on these things. They let you pay without further penalty.
I am too freaked out not to pay my parking tickets when I get them, but I think people forget to pay them all of the time. Surely they will just tack on extra fines. They want money, after all.
