There are numerous factors, one of which is the male sex hormones. They promote muscle growth. (I'm assuming you mean sex as in male/female, not intercourse.)

They say that having sex for 10 minutes full on is equal to running in a marathon of 14Klm, whether it is true I do not know for sure because I have no way of running the tests, however like everything that involves moving it all helps in one way or another.

There are a lot of hormones tht are released during sex that may also help and there are hormones that are used during sex that are also used by the body at other times to aid in the growth of muscles.

So to answer your question who knows, sex isn't supposed to be used to build up muscles it is an act of passion or an act of lust or reproduction.

Regular sex increases testosterone production which encourages muscle growth.

Also sex is good exercise.
