Sheep are all over Australia, mostly Merino. Wool is washed in special detergent and warm water and then rinsed in cool water. It won't shrink. If you wash your jumper in the washing machine and dry it in the tumble dryer it will shrink. Gently wring it out and dry it flat on a towel. If you need to iron it you will need to use a damp cloth, and do not let the iron touch the jumper. Wool is warmest and it breathes so you don't get too sweaty. If this all sound too much for you just get it dry cleaned

I think it is mostly Moreno sheep wool they produce. I know it's uncomfortable as all get out when it's hot, and you can't wash it because it'll shrink.
Basically, as far as I'm concerned, it is so passe as a fiber. Just about anything else is much better.

Most likely: Cold water, gentle cycle, hang dry.

Also likely: Dry clean only.
