Take the atomic mass unit /amu and multiply it by avagrados number and the atomic mass unit will then be converted from amu to a gram weight. So if you had say an element with an AMU fo 35.7 times avagrados number or a mole of this element and its mass would be 35.7 grams.

one amu is equal to one twelth of the mass of one atom carbon12 isotope of carbon. 12 grams of C12 = one mole of C12.
One mole of C12= 6.023x10exp23 atoms.
mass of one atom (amu)= 12grams /(6.023x10exp23)
