From what I have been able to gather it wasn't Nascar but Tony himself who said his fence climbing days may be over, at least that was the only reference I could find to his fence climbing.Tony may have felt that way at the time he made that statement but I think those feelings will probably be forgotten the very instant he takes his next checkered flag.Tony seems to have gotten used to being a fan favorite I think he likes it.Tony hasn't climbed his last fence yet because he knows the fans love it and I think he will continue to climb if only for the fans ,I agree it's better than Carl Edwards back flips any day.I do however cringe every time he starts climbing I am so afraid he will get hurt he is a race car driver not a gymnast I'm always glad to see him get to the top.I hope he continues to win races and celebrates in whatever fashion suits him at the time.

Um, I don't think NASCAR is telling Smoke to stop. I think, after reading the story on NASCAR.com, that he feels too out of shape and that after a longer race, especially after a long weekend of racing like last week, he may not be all there to do a big climb like that. I think its great that he does it, no matter that he didn't start it. Its even better than Carl Edwards back flip, but I'm a bigger Tony Stewart fan than an Edwards fan.

I think its a safety factor, I wouldn't want to see Tony fall from the fence and break his back and be out for the season, would you?

seems how tony wasnt the first person to climb the fence, it isnt his trademark.

also, think of the danger, like falling, or getting mobbed by the fans again

It's not his trademark, it's cool that he does it and interacts with the fans...but he could hurt himself doing it (or someone that he jumps on or falls on, after all he's no lightweight)! He'll find a new "thing" to make his own!
