Lauren, thanks for the lesson in English, however, the phrase"medium income" is a well used phrase, and accepted as correct when used in the above way. Perhaps I read different books than you do.

knowing first hand of this from my childhood its about priorties. l know there will be a lot of stupid " lazy people " answer but the bottom line is when you are poor you are looking for a meal that will fill you up that cost the least amount of money. Fast food restaurants provide that. Second when you are poor you are not spending 50 bucks a month to go to your local gym have a personal trainer or have a gourmet chef. Also l think the last thing a poor person who maybe working 2 or 3 jobs to keep food on the table want to do is get up at 6 am and jog 5 miles.

Well, lower quality foods are cheaper than healthier foods. I know when I went on South Beach I spent a small fortune!

I spent as much on food that was only for me for a week the same amount we spend at the grocery store on food for all THREE of us for a week.

I've also read that lower income are more likely to use prepared meals such as frozen dinners, which have tons of preservatives and other terribly unhealthy ingredients or run through fast food places more. Part of that I guess is possibly the less ideal working hours and shifts that neccessitate convenience eating over quality. It could also be in some part less knowledge or education on healthy eating.

Less balanced diet, most poor areas don't have proper grocery stores and people in turn eat fast food or garbage foods; Not enough time to eat, poorer people usually have limited amounts of time between work and must rush meals; and consuming soft drinks containing corn syrup, because they're readily available and cheap.

Food stamps!!! They can buy the groceries that us "medium class" can't afford regularly!! Have you checked the prices at the grocery lately?
Plus they can't afford a membership to the local gym! Cigarettes and beer can be pretty expensive!!

Because they are surviving on McDonalds. If they could afford to go to Whole Foods Market on a weekly basis, then maybe they would be in better shape too. Sucks dosen't it?
