1' = 12 inches so 5' = 12x5 = 60 inches
so john's earlier height = 60+2=62 inches
john's height after a year is 5'7 = 60+7 = 67 inches

So his height has increased by 5 inches.

in % it works out like this

% increase = ((new height - old height)/old height )*100
= ((67-62)/62)*100
= (5/62)*100
= 0.08*100 (approx)
= 8%

So John's height has increased by approx 8%

5'2 = 62 inches
5'7 = 67 inches

((67 - 62)/62) * 100 = (5/62) * 100 = about 8.065% increase over the year.

5'2 = 62 inches
5'7 = 67 inches
((67 - 62)/62) *100%
= (5/62) * 100%
