Books:

"Nine Stories" by J.D. Salinger made me learn how great an author Salinger is, since I didn't enjoy "Catcher in the Rye"
A particular story, "For Esme, with Love and Squalor" is particularly outstanding.
"The Years of Rice and Salt" is an extremely fascinating book about historical fiction. It really goes into details about leading civilizations throughout history without any emphasis of european history (It plays out a scenario that the black plague nearly wipes them out anyways) I've learned a lot about reincarnation as well, and it is truley fascinating. An incredible book.

Movies:

I'd say Citizen Kane taught me the importance of camera angles and how framing characters can be important in crafting the audiences impression of someone. It really made me appreciate older films and consequently hate modern films for their lack of craft after I saw this movie.

This book may not be on the library shelves anymore; but it was actually on the library shelves when I was a child. The book is: "If Jesus Came to Your House". Wow imagine that, it was a popular book for kids too.

Also "Veggie Tales" good videos about Christian standards and ethics for children. And of course the holy bible.

What have I learned....patience and develop a healthy thought life.

Peace Out.

There is a book about the History of Salt. I am sorry I cannot remember the name of it's author and the book is not nearby to check. It is easy to find. But it is a very readable book about the importance that salt has had on human civilization and how large lodes of salt decided settlements. And the effects of the salt in the geography, from the taste of food and type of industry the humans partook in.
Another by someone else is a history of tobacco on civilization .

a book called "It's Big World And There's Lots To Be Done" by Kim Woo Choong - the ex-chairman of Deawoo Corp. _ It's really a good book for young people.
But now he's in prison because of bribery. What a joke!

Checking in to count the bible responses.

I recommend - 48 Laws of Power.

Contains a lot of good parables and proverbs. Also has decent historical anecdotes.

I get a little something from everything Im exposed to. I love art.

That is why I try not to expose myself to too much garbage like horror flicks and gansta rap. (love real hip hop though)

As a college student I still find all children's books informative. I used a children's book called a Child's guide to the Nighttime Sky for my astronomy class. It helped more than the textbook did. Its the only book I can think of, sorry.

I've learned from the book "Babysitting is a Dangerous Job". It taught me that no matter how safe & secure you feel there is always that chance that something life affecting could happen. It taught me to be more aware of my surroundings.

The one book that has influenced me in a strong enough way that I can actually remember it to write it on here is the Bible. And I don't think there's any explanation needed here.
