You can use your watch (analog). In fact, you can use it as a compass. 12 is north, 3 is east, 6 is south and 9 is west. If you point the 6 o'clock at the sun (watch held flat, not up at the sun)and hold a small twig, pencil etc up vertical (next to the 6), the shadow cast across the watch face will point to north. At noon the shadow will point to 12. In early hours it will point around the 3 and in after noon, around 9 o'clock..The shadow will be pointing north in each case.

just always remember NEVER EAT SOUR WATERMELON. u can't go wrong with that. in a clockwise reading nort east south west. never: is for north eat:is for east sour:is for south and watermelon: is for west.

going clockwise from the top I always used to think 'Never Eat Shredded Wheat' (NESW) . Don't ask why or where it came from. Couldn't say.
