oh and also Death cab for cutie, david bowie, the talking heads, jack johnson, the kinks, hot hot heat, and jump little children? anybody heard of those?

I don't know any Rogue Wave, Ben Kweller, Badly Drawn Boy, or Jump Little Children, but I generally appreciate the music that makes up the rest of the list. The Beatles are one of my favorite bands of all time, and Queen are just... Queen. Dylan was a masterful lyricist, David Bowie produced amazing single after amazing single, and the Talking Heads just were and made life better by being. Oh, and The Kinks popularized about half of what is now Rock n' Roll convention. Gotta give 'em props for that.
DCFC are one of the few really 'pop' groups that I enjoy (mostly for their work on "Transatlanticsm"), largely due to Gibbard's lyrical knack and fitting vocal styling. Jack Johnson is very laid back and easy to listen to, as are The Shins, though I don't know them very well. And man, can that Ben Folds play piano, and I appreciate his often acerbic wit and sarcasm. You seem to have an interesting, eclectic taste in generally well-known artists, and I'll be e-mailing you with recommendations of where to go next sometime soon.

Ben Kweller is pretty ok.

The Beatles is my favorite band, Bob Dylan is in my top five (and I consider him to be the greatest all-time lyricist), and The Flaming Lips are one of the few alternative modern rock bands to whom I listen.
I don't care for any of the others (except Queen, who are pretty good, but certainly not great).

big old beatles sound is the best.
and i learned how to love and be loved by an ugly because of the glamy bob dylan, thanks to him.
but ben kweller.. i haven't heard it.

I love Queen! I cried when Freddie Mercury died. they are all so very talented.
