The girls were suppose to ask the police dept . get a permit and invite all the people on the block .(planning ) .Everyone brings a dish to share or activity .The kids try to get away with everything they can , some Adults become worse than the kids ( at times ) .But it's suppose to bring all neighbors together to party . I think asking for all the neighbors to agree on a clean up day is better to see who really cares about the neighborhood ! And not many will crash into a clean up party ! As for the block party , that takes permits and notifying the police to place road blocks up on ends of the street , for safety and hand around if needed .

A block party is a neighborhood party, usually the street is blocked off to traffic, neighbors bring food and just hang out or party together. We had one over the 4th of July. A fun time was had by all.

the first two are BS where i live we don't have blocks i live in the boonies.... and I'm not white trash sadly the only Internet we can get in this part of Mississippi is satellite or dial up i have satellite
any way a block party is when everybody on a block and/or surrounding blocks have a big barbecue gathering and talk about life while kids play games usually people are assigned what to bring for the party
in my grandmothers neighborhood this is what they do on the 4th of July
and that's what a block party is

A block party is when an entire city block (or 2 o 3) cordon off the traffic and party in the street with all their neighbors. Here, in Detroit, we do a lot of barbecuing, sometimes have the local fire dept. bring a truck that the kids can climb on and tour, open a fire hydrant for fun in the water, etc. We even used to have a pig roast on an empty lot on our block.

soundz as if your away or overseas my wife had a block party when i was in the field and supplied all the drinks on my money, good luck buddy.

It is when an entire neighborhood comes together as a community and has a party, There are sometimes bands, always great BBQues, games, contests, etc. They are a lot of fun. Tho you don't actually see them too often these days it seems no one is interested in being nice to their neighbors let alone throw a big bash with them.
