Does anyone know what Satine, from Moulin Rouge, died from?

lol and I was also wondering if anyone had noticed: Christian = Holy, and Satine = Satin = Devil.. lol just thought that was funny.. I'm sure that wasn't a coincidence considering the fact that he was so nice, and she worked in a burlesque.

RED HAS ADDITIONAL MEANING
One of the first associations that the film makes with red is that of blood. Satine's blood. She is dying of TB. Her blood will have a redemptive quality to it however. It is through her red blood that truth, freedom and love gain the victory over lust and greed.

it was tuberculosis, otherwise known as TB. The biggest symptom of this in the later stages is coughing up blood. Which Satine was doing in the movie.

Yeah, I'd go with Tuberculosis...in any other movie when a character is coughing up blood and fainting, it's tuberculosis. What a killjoy.
