Most definitely. Plus I hate to see , 250 hitters or 9-15 pitchers
making millions for mediocre performances. Once upon a time,
100k salary was reserved only for true and tested superstars. Now
361k is there for any first year player.

I'm a Brewer fan, one of the smallest market teams in baseball and I don't think baseball needs a salary cap. Thankfully we have a new owner and our $20 million payroll days are finally over!

What baseball needs is a SALARY FLOOR! Meaning that teams have to spend a MINIMUM on players. This crap with the Marlins payroll being $14 million has to stop. These teams owners are selling out, not caring about putting a winner on the field. They just want to pocket whatever money comes in from attendance and revenue sharing. If you can't afford a team, you should be FORCED to sell.

And that doesn't mean you should have to spend $200 million. You CAN win when spending $45 or more, but you would struggle to compete on the college level with $14 million.

YES YES YES, that would be a great thing, but its just not ever going to happen. And if it did, many players would quit because they only play for the money and not the love of the game. They also need a Salary Floor too

P.S. Yankees annual salary isnt over 200 mil. Its 198, 662, 180... close enough though.. I find it funny that even though they have that much money that they can't win a world series anymore

P.S.S. Yankees SUCK... GO BOSOX!!! WOOO

j_blayze420, saying that "the smaller market teams never have a chance" is a lie. Look at the Florida Marlins and the (then) Anaheim Angels. These two teams were both small-market teams and both won World Championships. Also, look at the Yankees over the last few years, they have not won a World Series.

Personally, I think that the Luxury Tax is sufficient. I think that if an owner is dumb enough to spend that much money and NOT win a championship every year, then let him spend his money.

Yes definately. It's done wonders for the NHL this season. A small market team like Edmonton managed to make it to the finals, and a team like Carolina won the Cup. In baseball, its' basically always the Yankees winning, or coming close, and the smaller market teams never have a chance. The cap system works in the NHL, NBA, and NFL, and there is no reason why it shouldn't also be used for baseball. Baseball is a lazy man's sport anyways, lol.

No. A salary cap would not work in baseball.

Let the yankees and red sox continue to pay the "luxury tax"...I like to think of it as free money from the big boys.

I think there needs to be a soft cap put in place, meaning, make teams spend so much. they put the luxary tux to help the smaller market teams out but those team owners do not put the money back into there ball clubs, granted the only teams who have paid into the luxary tax have been the yankees and redsox.

that's what money buys you..a 252 million dollar third baseman that's not very good at fielding but very good at hitting..I respect the players on the yankees but I truly despise the franchise..

I don't think a salary cap would level the playing field the way everyone thinks it would.

baseball has an UNOFFICIAL salary cap, if you go above it, you have to pay the league a bunch of taxes
