The Social Security Agency doesn't think it's the same. You can live together from the time you're 16 till you're 75 and it doesn't matter squat to SSA. The only thing that counts is that marriage license. If you expect to collect your livein's Social Security benefits you'd better get married.

I know a couple that has been together for 25 years. They look like they were in the 'love' generation. But they did finally get married. She says that they were in love and it was just time. What the rumor said is that she was a business woman and needed to represent herself as a respectable 'married' woman to the eyes of her business associates as well as to her co-workers. (LOL) One of the staff was very religious and whole heartily believed in the virtue of the bonds of marriage and thought that lady was living in sin. So that's one way a couple living together may get married. (^_^)

I've been married for 10 years and think that all Marriage is, is a piece of paper that states our commitment to each other; trusting people can have the same commitment without the piece of paper.

No it's not the same...Once the men get that paper in their hands...They think they own you...Just living together is alot different...Without the license, you have alot more freedom and more respect...And your relationship is alot better...I really don't know why men have to be like that...

Maybe they are afraid that if they get married, their relationship won't work.

If it's not broken, don't fix it.

Leave them alone, they're happy so what do you or anybody else care?
