It's about the only tree you can stand under and still get sun burn. It gets about 20 feet tall maximum, has leaves like a mimosa "tree," and produces gazillions of yellow flowers followed by bean pods (which is why the damned things are currently infesting the American Southwest). The pods turn yellow when ripe. Mesquites are worthless except for good gun stocks and barbecue wood.
Maybe we could sell them all to the Chinese and Indians so they can make cheap crap to sell back to us.
