do you say the 'pledge' or sing your independence song with pride? or do you just do it because of school routine? do you feel proud to salute your flag? do you respect your patriots and pray for them?

I don't pledge allegiance to the federal government anymore.

I still hold allegiance to the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of the U.S.,

but, the federal government is not currently, in my opinion, in strong alignment with the lofty values outlined in those two documents.

I look forward to the time when the pendulum naturally swings back the other way. It might take a significant economic collapse in the U.S. to make it happen, but it will happen.

We can't go on like this forever. The rest of the world will not allow it.

:-)

Yes to all. I did not have as healthy a respect for my country or the life I have in the US until I deployed abroad and saw how most of the rest of the world lives. I have been to Europe and Asia, including a 2 month trip to China when I was still at University. I am really grateful to live here. Obviously, we are not perfect, but I would not live anywhere else. I guess I am old fashioned. I still sing during the national anthem, and say the pledge with respect and really mean it. I fly the flag at my house proudly.

Well, this past school year we didn't say the pledge of alligance, not once! That pissed me off. So i made it part of my daily routine to say a prayer for our armed forces and country and our leaders. Whenever I hear our national anthem, sometimes i just want to cry.

Nothing wrong with being proud of your country. At least if you speak out against your governement, here in America, you won't be imprisoned or executed like in other countries. I think we have it pretty good here with our independence, and 1st amendment rights. Some people take it for granted and complain too much.

I think if it weren't independent you couldn't ask this question and I couldn't answer it.
