Hormones can play a great deal in any changes in your system. You indicated that you are depressed lately. Depression / stress can cause your hormone levels to fluctuate which can affect your cycles; however, not having your period for over five months is not normal. I would strongly recommend that you see a gynecologist to get a check up. The doctor may actually probably have to get a series of blood tests run to detect what is the cause of your problem. You also specified your weight, but not your height. But being overweight or even underweight can cause a young girl to have a missed or irregular period. Pregnancy also comes to mind. Have you had any sexual activity? It only takes once for a possible pregnancy to occur. I only mentioned this as a possible reason since it always seems to be the first question a doctor usually asks. Be sure to get a check up as soon as possible. If you are not pregnant and missing cycles, you may have a way more serious problem. If the uterine lining has been building up for over five months without being shed in a monthly period, then the uterine lining can keep adding to your problem. If the period is not induced, the lining buildup could lead to Cancer. This may easily be prevented if detected early by a doctor. Normally a doctor may prescribe medication to cause your body to have a period (sometimes they will actually prescribe birth control medication since it regulates the cycles). Sure a pap smear may also be needed, but remember this is for your health. Too much or too little estrogen may be affecting your cycles. Please talk to a doctor.

Interesting that you say you suspect a possibility of hypothyroidism. The things you mention, including the depression can be related to hypothyroidism. Whether or not this is the case, you will want to go see your doctor for a pap, not pleasant, but not a big deal either. It's just necessary. I know this doesn't make it any easier, but you are not the first to be nervous and these doctors understand this. Pay attention to any other symptoms (or things that are happening to you that seem different.) write them down so you don't forget. Discuss them all with your doctor. If there seems to be several, even unrelated, don't be concerned that the doctor may think you are a lunatic if you mention them all. It is your health and no one will be able to care more than you do.

could be those but what would be causing the ammenhorrea? not eating breakfast wouldnt be enough. If your sexually active, could be pregnancy. Do you have sore, swollen breasts? Nausea/vomiting for no apparent reason? Peeing more often? Go to the doctor. Suck it up and have the pap. It only takes LITERALLY about 1 minute. Or better yet, take a pregnancy test to be sure. Then see the doc no matter what the result. Hope this helps!

If your cycle was regular up until now, you've had unusual pain or discomfort, or there's a chance you are pregnant you need to see your physician immediately.

If your cycle has always been irregular, and there's no chance you may be pregnant, then it's probably just prolonged irregularity. Some women don't develop regular cycles until their 20's, some women never develop regular cycles.

Do consult some good ayurvedic dr. for your hormonal problem , don't go for allopathy medicine as it has steriods and lot of side effects. Why don't you write to drmeenaxi@yahoo.com or go for ayurvedic medicines available on planetayurveda.com. I'm sure ayurvedic physicians on that panel will help you.

Menstruation is the only time in our lives when bleeding indicates health.
Go see the doctor to make sure nothing is wrong. Hypothyroidism is treatable. If you are pregnant, you want to make sure you are getting the best prenatal care.
Amenhorea has a cause.
