i love her very much as a friend, we used to be so close but now just so distant, i want to ask what is going on because i miss her.

Yeah .
I just went through this and it was a huge misunderstanding.
I said somethign to her and she took it the wrong way.
SO you might to make sure its nothing you did and if it was, say sorry. and ask them if they want to hang out sometime.

Having a friendship split in different ways is normal. It happened to me many of times. But if you really want to keep the friendship alive then sit down with your friend and have a good talk. even though the friendship may be less and less seeing each other that doesn't mean the friendship itself is a total loss. I haven't seen my best friend in years but we managed to still keep in touch- phone, computer, snail mail.
