I have often noticed that most people fall into three distinct character types based upon this simple question.

Which of these defines you as a person?

Are you among those for whom the past (their own or in general) is the factor by which you live?

Or, do you believe that the best for you is yet to come, imagining a bright and brilliant future?

How many of you out there are having your best time right now? Carpe diem!

Personally, I am living for the future. You?

I don't let the past dictate my present or my future. Everything that happened in the past is just that... the past. It may be a factor in how you deal with things today but if you let it control how you look at things then you are living in the past and cannot enjoy the present fully or plan the future effectively.

The future can be planned for and much pleasure taken from the planning and preparing that goes into it, but it is what you do NOW that makes the future possible.

Learn from the past, plan for the future, live for the present.

Philisophically, I have to say the present. I can't change the past or control the future, but I am free to chose in the present moment.

In reality, I live in the future quite a bit. It keeps me going to think that the things I want out of life that I haven't got yet could be just around the corner.

Although the past has created some of my personality, it is not really who I am. I only 'am' right now.

I try to live for right now, but I am mostly aware that my thoughts right now create my future. It is being able to make that created future closer to now ........

The best is always yet to come, but you will miss what is now if that is where your mind is.

There is a fine line between being satisfied with now enough to enjoy now and feel the best is now, but not quite being satisfied enough so that you strive and grow toward better things tomorrow.

The passing of time is somewhat a stressful concept for me, as I can feel sometimes that there is no time. It all just is.

Well, since I just hit 45 in May I am certainly looking to the future. Why look behind at the past. I remember my first day of first grade and first day of high school and it honestly does seem like just yesterday, time really does fly so fast. I am grateful to my Heavenly Father for each day granted here on earth and can't wait to get to heaven and pray that my mansion is located next to a Taco Bell! I could "compain" about being 45 but when you think about it, it is a honor denied many.

i think most people are either stuck in the past or in the future, the sad thing is that when we do that we tend to forget the present, and that's where we usually mess up. I'll be honest and say that I'm the type of person that lives in the past, although I really wish I lived for the present.

I tend to live in the present one day at a time but look forward to things I may achieve. I always look back because I have the most clear idea of mistakes I have made. The world seems to be gitting pretty crappy and the people worse, but hey I guess this is the real world my parents always used to talk about, maybe I am seeing it through adult eyes for the first time.

The future is built on the past and the now. I live for now, with an awareness of how my present effects my future, and looking back at my past to understand how I got here. To fulfill as much of my potential as possible, I need to keep the 3, and their relationship to each other, in perspective. Leaning to heavily on one of them will throw me off balance.

I can't do anything about the past and my future depends on how I take care of today. I guess the answer is I am having the best possible time now. Do the right things today and the future wil take care of itself.

I am living for all three of them. You cannot have a present without the past, and you cannot have a future without the present.
