we still get along, but this rumor keeps secretly nagging at me, even though i doubt its accuracy. should i bring it up? if it turns out to be true, it would devastate me, because the worst thing for me is to feel manipulated, especially by someone i think highly of. if its not, i don't want her thinking less of me for believeing it enough to mention it. as it stands, our relationship is ok, but i dunno....

trust me it is better to get it out in the open.....if this person is a real friend they will appreciate your willingness to approach the situation head on and resolve it. and if you don't resolve it there will always be that doubt in your mind regarding this and that will ultimately damage the friendship in the long run. from recent experience, i can say that i confronted a friend about the hurtful things that they had done to me and even though our friendship is over, i am better off stopping the second guessing i was experiencing when it came to our friendship. don't feel manipulated....because if it turns out to be true........you shouldn't feel so highly for this person.

do absolutely nothing at all...be the best person you can be without sacrificing your personal attributes...the worst thing for some people to do is to 'tip-toe' on the eggshells layed down by the threat of something that is not true...it sounds like you have a lot of respect not to insult someone else as you feel wronged...if you are, however, good friends then by all means pursue the answer....she shouldn't think less of you at all....

Tell her you've been doing some "self searching" and was wondering if she would help you in this by listing five of your strengths and five of your weaknesses--and maybe that would give her the opportunity to tell you something in a non-threatening way. Maybe she just doesn't understand you, and this would give you an opportunity to help her understand...
