I'm an avid reader, and I read constantly on the bus on the way to Uni, at the bus stop, and I take a book everywhere with me in my backpack. So now my question; What do girls think of guys that read books? Surely there are different opinions for different girls, but what would a girls first thought be when she sees a guy reading a novel?

Personally, I like it! I'd far rather have a guy who has brains than some muscle man who is more interested in his hair. Looks are great and all, but they fade in time, the brain however lasts much longer and is far more attractive!
Anyway, I read all of the time too! I read on the bus, at the bus stop, in between classes, everywhere. I don't think that anyone could really fault you for wanting to obtain knowledge, or enjoying something that requires actual brain activity. Anyone who makes fun of you is only jealous and a girl that is worthwhile will know that.

Literate girls (the best kind!) like guys that read books, especially novels. It makes the guy much more interesting to talk to, and girls like conversation. Maybe the girl has read the novel you are reading, or maybe she would like to know a little about it to decide whether to read it. Of course, a book can also be used as an excuse not to talk or interact. So if you want to appear sociable, look up from the book now and then.

My first thought would be a good one. It shows that not all people are the same. I have friends who are guys and love to read almost as much as I do. Guys who read interest me. You see, in my school not many guys like to read too much and turn out to be jerks most of the time. I'm not saying all of them are, I'm just saying from what I've seen, guys at my school are nicer and more fun to be around when they read. It's really fun when they have or are reading a book that you've read about a million times and they like it as much as you did. I find books can be real conversation starters a lot of the time. Speaking of books, which ones have you read? Are you into fantasy? I'm curious to know for maybe I've read them or should read them.

I like it personally. Especially if he were reading a book that I have read or have an interest in reading. I enjoy talking to my boyfriend about books we have both read. We have really great conversations, which I often find enlightening.
Anyone who thinks you're a geek is obviously intellectually challenged. Probably the same people who watch American Idol.
Bleh.
Now I'm ashamed. I sound like a snob. But dammit, it's how I think of people who don't read.

Yes, some like it. But a girl wouldn't like it if he is too engrossed in the book so that he is totaly unaware of what's happening around.
I've heard girls talking of such guys as the good sort. Also some think they just show off.
The first thought will depend on what sort of a book he's reading. What you read can show what sort of a person you are.
Personaly I like guys who read, but all my friends don't.

In my opinion guys that read are sexy and definitely headed towards the right direction in life. It usually means they love to learn new things, intelligent, and most of all can hold a conversation.
And...if he happens to be writing a novel thats even sexier.

I read all the time. My boyfriend reads a lot too. When I was single, I couldn't stand it if I made a reference to any popular or well-known book and he blankly stared at me. Girls really do like smart guys. (Comic books, on the other hand, don't count!)

Most girls get a higher opinion of guys with books.
Shows you are smarther and more up to date on things, Wheather a car book, etc If she is inerested in you, she will start to talk. Books opens your mines and there hearths. PEM

It depends on the guy. ^_^;
Sometimes (it depends on the girl..) the girl likes it. It's a sensitive kind of guy, I guess. But it's not all that fun dating a silent guy who pays more attention to his book than you. For me.. I like it. It's different from what I'm living with.
so let's say that my dream guy reads avidly, but not to the point of where his first love is the book.
