The smaller the animal, the quicker the heart rate. It has to do with the hearts lack of volume and the necessary blood pressure.

Hearts Beat Fast

2016-12-12 12:04:33 · answer #2 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

Because they're metabolic rate is fast. Rabbits' heart rate is about 500 beats per minute. Why?> some of the body heat must be dissipated. And how much of that heat must be dissipated depends on surface area of the animal

"So, for a LARGE ANIMAL: it has more volume (=produces more heat), less surface area (=less able to get rid of that heat). It therefore must have a slower metabolism (produce less heat in the first place) than a animal smaller than it. "

Hope this helps.

It seems to be that through studies, researchers have found that the shorter the lifespan, the faster the heart rate. It's kind of like biological proof of E=mc sq. only in this case time is relevant to the experiencer rather than the observer.

They're hearts beat so fast because they run so much so the blood needs to get pumped faster to their lungs.

For a lot of reasons, they need thier blood to run through them fast enough to keep them alive while they're running, plus thier bodies are so much smaller that the blood has to go through them at a faster rate.

They are animals who are very afraid and get too excited. Believe me, it's normal. Every animal is different. Mine is the same. But when it beats faster than usual, just calm him down.

because they r so small that the blood has a less distance to travel so one beat circulates the whole body in less than a second
