This is not a brain teaser, I'm really trying to find an answer, since its for a Black History class. I've tried for hours searching the internet, and have pretty much exhausted that resource, now it's on to real people for help. Please help! Here is the link of what I drew, hope it works...

The symbol is a quarter circle, with three penatrating lines.

Whew, got the answer, unfortunately no one here had the correct answer, but I'll pick the one who had put the most effort into answering, but thanks to all, even the dry cleaning answer, lol.
If your curious about the symbol, it is actually a egyptian hieroglyph that combines two consonants. It means "KM" or "Kem" and stands for a color, "Burnt Black" or just plain black.
The symbol has been used by egyptians themselves to describe their appearence, which they've described as black. So the ancient egyptians were black, and did not become light-brown until conquerors of lighter skin mixed and integrated with the population. Interesting how history books do not emphasize this! How racist!
