Actually, Carson said the correct answer. It really does depend on where you are, who your family has, where you travel to mostly, and will travel to in the future. None of them hit everywhere, and probably never will. I have been in Wireless sales for 10 years through all 4 major companies and one starup local company, and they all have their niche and all of them will drop calls somewhere. Even the mighty Cingular and Verizon. It is just a fact of life, and you have to take the good with the bad. If you are ever going to travel overseas to Europe and Asia(excluding Japan), then you want to look at Cingular or T-Mobile because they work worldwide because of the GSM technology.

I shoped and shopped and shopped, Verizon came out ahead with its friends and family talk free (actually anyone with a verizon plan). At the time they also offered free phones..couldn't say no to that! T-mobile was second. Sprint and Cingular have bad networks in metro LA so they were out of the running.

PS Don't hold your breath on the rebates..they are WAY to slow, just send them USPS Certified Mail with Return Reciept and photocopy everything you send and make sure you send in everything they ask for...they don't want to give the money back and try anyway they can to keep it!

I really like Verizon. I have had no problems with reception. Plus a lot of my friends have Verizon so we can talk free at all times. My parents have Cingular and hate the poor reception. I can't tell you how many times we have been cut off because they are going into a "bad area".

I have Cingular, and live in the New England area (north east for those not Geographically friendly), and have absolutely no problems.
No dropped calls. Nothing. I love it, except for the price tag.
HOWEVER, AND LISTEN TO THIS PART.
If you like being custom with your phone, and like to mod it out, try new things, BUY NEW PHONES, if you want the FREEDOM to choose whatever phone you want, slide a SIM card in it, and use it immediately, you want Cingular.
Verizon, T-Mobile, etc, do not use SIM cards. You have to buy your new phones through them.

Verizon has the best coverage. That to me is all that matters. What is a sleek phone, best deal on minutes, most users, or whatever if you dont get service at your house? That pisses me off the most, no service in your house or at work. This is where you are the most. Go with the coverage.
