A Mirena IUD last 5 yrs has hormones that are released continualy. Slows heavy flows and after approx 3-6 months of having it placed you "may" have no periods at all or ones that are short and light enough to use only a panty liner. Not to mention its birth control. Check into it. I love mine! Got it at age 34 yrs. because as I have gotten older my periods got a lot heavier. I became iron deficant, fatigue and felt horrible.

The pill can do this for you. Also the 'more you exercise' the faster it flows, so that can shorten it as well. Other than that, look into the new pill that lets you have a period only every 3 months - that's awesome!
