Who do you think you may have been in one of your past lives? Why do you think that?

I wasn't. There are more people alive on the planet today than have ever lived. I suppose a lot of us on our first lives.

Myself I like to believe that every soul is unique. And maybe I don't want to have to come back. I have had such a wonderful life this go around, that it might not be so good the next time around.

I'm good with one good ride on this roller coaster.

I've had my Akashic records read and was told I was once a priest or a monk. I've had tarot and psychic reading indicating that I've known several people currently in my life previously.

But for me the concept of reincarnation comes down to this: every day is a new life, every time I go to sleep at night is a new death, every time I wake up is a rebirth. Karma makes sense to me this way, since whatever I did yesterday and the day before that and when I was 10 years old has some impact on where I am and who I am today.

So I can tell you that in past lives I have worked in gardens with vegetables and flowers, I have prepared food for others, I have had lovers and friends and played sports and played games and I was once pretty good at archery (not any more). I have never been a dancer, in my current life I am a vegetarian but in most former lives I ate meat. I have lived in small towns and big cities, a friend and I once tried to "exchange races" for a day in college (we mostly laughed and made jokes about each other), and there are a jillion other details that we all have from our own myriad of past lives.

In my heart, where faith lies, this is my understanding of past lives.

I believe I have been a soldier killed in the Civil War and a minor functionary behind the scenes in 1920s/1930s Broadway theatre.

The soldier comes from experiences I have had with re-enactors where I know something was actually wrong with one of their uniforms. I have absolutely no first-hand knowledge of those uniforms, but asked about it and the guy just passed it off as having to make a last-minute substitution. I have precious little knowledge about the Civil War and no real interest in it, but I knew that.

The theatre experience came from a spontaneous event where I suddenly "zoomed in" on a theatre where a Follies-type event was occuring and I could hear an aria being performed, watched the girls in headdresses moving across the stage, and then wondered, "Where am I?" I was taken to a man in a tuxedo backstage, and saw things through his eyes. I somehow knew he was connected with the show, in a money position. Then, the soprano who was singing finished to applause, came backstage and handed "me" some roses and briefly kissed me. I saw a friend's face in this life emerge from behind the "mask" of her face. Then, she went back onstage.

I had the impression she was actually the misstress of the real producer of the show, but that she was having an affair with "me."

I was not asleep or unconscious during this "vision." It was very clear, very detailed, and very auditory. I later identified the aria.

I lived in back bay,Boston in a past life.I know because of many things-like i knew the entire area before i moved there. If we were lost,i'd get out of the car, stand there for a minute, and be able to direct my friends--who were FROM there, anywhere they needed to go.I had lived there for less than 1 day when i did this the first (of many) times.I also have a terrible sense of direction(except in boston). There's more, but i'll let others share.....

In my last life I think I was a white girl who didn't make it far past teenagehood, born to decently monied parents, who never had to really work a day in her short life. (I think my life ended violently and tragically, through murder or a terrible car crash, on a lonely mountain road.) I think that now because I don't know how to clean up after myself like any normal person should, and I constantly find myself wishing I could hire a maid to come pick up after me. I think I was born as who I am now to basically be forced to get over myself on that one, lol.

i'm pretty much reserving judgement on the whole past lives scenario. i don't know if i believe in them or not.
having said that, i once had a dream which i can only describe as a past life dream.
in this dream, i saw a young man in uniform, on horseback. suddenly, there was a sense of awareness... you see, usually in dreams i don't feel things. dreams for me are like movies i'm watching, and they don't really affect me at all, as i dream them.
so imagine my surprise when i felt this sense of recognition. it was as if my very bones were saying... hey, i know you. you're me.
in a flash, i knew i was the man on the horse, and i knew exactly who i was. my mind catalogued all the main events... the place and time of my birth, my childhood, all major events of my life so far, until i came to know i was leading men into battle, and i knew what battle it was and what we were fighting for and i believed in our cause whole heartedly. it was all gone by the time i woke up, but i will never forget that feeling of recognition... like looking into a mirror for the first time and realizing it's your own face looking back.
i don't know if i believe in past lives, but i know that if they are indeed a reality, then once upon a time i was a young officer in some army, fighting for a good cause, and died on the battlefield.

I think I was a Buddhist monk at one time. Even though I was born in California and am Caucasian, I always feel a strange familiarity when I visit Asian temples. Buddhism feels more natural to me than other religions even though I was not born in a traditionally Buddhist country.
