The founder, Daniel Swarovski, was Bohemian born. He established the first factory in 1895 in Wattens in the Austrian Tyrol after observing the new cutting machines at the 1883 International Electric Exhibition in Vienna and recognizing that they were the future of crystal working.

It's not overly expensive, but not cheap. Obviously the bigger the piece and the more intricate the design, the more expensive it gets. For example, a nice bracelet or necklace might be between 20 - 50, while a crystal object could go up to hundreds. But if you found it on the floor, chances are it's not worth much, but take it into a store (i don't where you are in the world, but there's a few stores in central london) and ask them to value it.
