On another computer, do a search for an image of the "ultimate boot cd" or try bootdisk.com. Download an ISO CD image, and burn it to CD. Search the FAQ's associated with the utility. Basically, you're going to make a bootable CD that runs a version of LINUX. This image also has drivers to access the NTFS file system on the hard drive of the machine with the lost password. Use the registry tool to then overwrite the old administrator password with a blank password. Remove the bootable cd, re-boot the subject computer, and log in with the administrator ID and a blank password. Immediately change the password to something else. Note: it may be necessary to change your BIOS settings on the computer so that the boot sequence attempts to boot from the CD BEFORE the hard drive.

there's no way, just restore windows with the setup CD and choose a new password.
In future always put 2 accounts with administrative privileges.
One is default "Administrator" and the other you can create by any name (with admin. rights)
dont keep the same passwords for the both accounts.

You can do a repair install of Windows XP which will wipe out the passwords but leave your programs and data untouched.

You can use the Offline Password Reset tool found here http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html
Be sure to read and follow all directions as this can have bad consequences if used incorrectly.

buy a new full version of windows XP, a new HD... boot off of the XP's cd and make the new HD your boot disk... I'm not sure if you will be able to recover any data on the old one... you can try installing it as a slave.
