I have the air-conditioner on but it feels sticky and uncomfortable. What is the humidity suppose to be for the home, and how can I lower the humidity? Will a small dehumidifier unit work on the entire house (1,000 sq. ft) ?

It should be 55% relative humidity, not 65%. Yes a dehumidifier will solve the problem. I think the ac unit is too big for the house called being over sized) , cooling it down too rapidly before the ac unit has time to pull all the humidity out the air. I guess you like 72 degrees. I would try 75 to see if that solves your humidity problem.

I keep our humidity between 40-45 all year round. Good answer about A/C unit too big-- doesn't have time to draw out humidity
