I feel that more money needs to be spent on improving infrastructure such as drainage, sewage, transport links upgrading and recycling of waste/rubbish/trash.
I have witnessed every year flooding in major towns/cities due to rubbish clogging up the drainage systems. I have seen some works done on drainage upgrading but these works were carried out using cheap methods which ultimately will breakdown. Planners should be aware that increased development will lead to increased waste production and increased areas of developed land will require a corresponding increase in drainage requirements.
There also seems to be a lack of maintainence in general regarding buildings - government buildings included. This is endemic through out the region - small regular maintenance will prevent large costly maintenance later on. It also creates a better impression & more importantly a better work environment.
I realise that Indonesia is a large country but the money must find its way down to the companies & contractors to upgrade the infrastructure and ultimately to the people of Indonesia by creating jobs. The companies and directors also expect unrealistcally large profits which results in cheap & unsuitable products.
The longterm future of Indonesia must be considered and not just short term focus of large returns in investment in a relatively short period of time.
I accept that corruption exists in all countries in the world - this is a fact, however the corruption level must not be such that it affects the development of social services. In other words if the corruptors are greedy then there will be no money left for the project/infrastructure.
Indonesia has a vast pool of resources and has the potential to develop into a well organised and economically strong country in the Asean region.
To attract business & tourism then the transport links, services & infrastructure must be continually developed or at least well maintained.
Indonesians must consider the consequences of their actions and consider the effect on their fellow country men.
As a people they are friendly and extremely sociable.
As a country it has the potential being an Asean Superpower but will need to change its business practices internally to attract investment from outside.

Indonesia is definitely the place to be on vacations. Despite the unfortunate occurrences of tsunamis, Indonesians are one of the most welcoming people in the World. If you got lots of money to spend, Bali is the place with its five star resorts and activities.
Try watching exhibitions of local dancing and music. You'll be dazzled.
No doubt Indonesia is a great place inhabited by great people with a greater culture.
