For me personally, these are actual BRUISING, resulting from rubbing my eyes due to :P looking at this lurvely 'puter screen too long without adequate moisture in my eyes and/or rest!

Suggest you try wearing mitts, or else try dipping your fingertips in something that will stain your eye area whenever you go to it without thinking.

In general, once I made myself aware of the issue, and quit the eye [sc]rubbing, I *lost* the raccoon-eyes! :D

So I'd say the KEY thing here is not what to PUT on your eyes, but what NOT to put...i.e., your HANDS--EVER! ;)

I was going to suggest the exact same things that downaustin suggested. I have had dark circles since birth. I have always been told they are allergies. And in part, I know that some of it is. But I have spent the last year studying alternative health, and seeing specialists. I have been told that it could be a bacteria and toxins in my body. I am in the process of changing a lot of habits and diet. Plus I am a week into a colon cleanse. It hasnt been long enough to tell you if these methods work, but after all my research, and lack of help from medical doctors, I feel confident that it will.
If your eyes arent sensitive to the stuff, you can use concealer to cover up the circles in the meantime.

Dark Circle and Bags Under Your Eyes
The Bigger Secret that is Hidden Under the Eyes
Chinese medicine says that dark circles under your eyes or bags under your eyes are a sign of an internal problem, not just a skin problem. If they are dark that indicates toxic blood and the kidneys weakness in filtering your blood. If they are swollen that indicates sluggish filtration of your kidneys.

This can lead to a variety of health problems such as water retention, scanty urine, swollen ankles, fingers and toes and possibly urinary infection.
There are several solutions you can use.

• Use a chinese kidney activator herbal treatment. This would contain such ingredients as potassium, Juniper berries, Parsley herb, Uva ursi leaves, Dandelion root (diuretic), and Chamomile flowers

• Change your diet, drink plenty of liquids preferably pure water, organic cranberry juice is good. Reduce your meat and protein consumption, and drink tea, preferably watermelon seed or green, sweetened with black strap molasses.

• Cleanse the colon.

Remember problems that show on the surface are indicators of problems inside. There are other herbs that can absorb the toxins, serve as diuretics designed for the kidneys, and provide trace minerals to replenish the body.

Oh yeah and another thing. You should get at least 6-8 hours of sleep, the best times are between 10 pm and 6 am

Sorry bout this bein so long.

Dark circles under your eyes are often caused by allergies or by lack of sleep.

You could use cucumber slices or tea bags to take away the swelling/dark circles. To cover them up, you could use concealer. Causes may be allergies, lack of sleep, stress or just naturally the way your skin tone is.

You might lack a good night sleep. Give enough time to rest. Cold compress can help. Try putting a slice of cucumber over each eye and relax. Relieve yourself of stress and have a positive attitude. If it's health-related, see your doctor.

Are you getting enough sleep?.. if you are sleeping are you sleeping solid for a good amount of time? If your not sleeping well, try going to a natropath or health food store for some herbal medicine and if that doesnt work you should consult your GP. But a good nights sleep will do the trick if not sleeping is happening :)

This is gonna sound funky but it was my problem..........

Do you sleep with the TV or radio on? If so, your brain isn't resting so your body isn't totally resting either, it's processing the info sent from the TV.

My friend told me this and I though she was nutz til I slept in quiet for a week and my dark circles disappeared

You might not be getting enough sleep. So...uh...sleep. Haha.

If you have pale skin it might just be your veins showing through. Buy some Visine and tap a few drops onto the skin under your eyes. It will fade the veins under your skin like it does in your eyes.

Welcome to my world. I have been told it's food allergies, specifically milk or wheat. Since you're a guy I wouldn't recommend makeup, and I've tried ALL those creams and they don't work...so save your money. Have you ever had a allergy test? You need to see an allergist or and ENT (ear, nose & throat doc) they can do either skin or blood testing. The skin testing itches like hell, so if they will do it, ask for the blood.
