My step-father of 17 years has been given 2 weeks - 2 months to live. I don't know if I seem insensitive here, but I need to start preparing something to say at his funeral. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Well I don't have any poems, and this may be a little obvious but photos are always good. Maybe not at the funeral itself but at the funeral home or after the service. Photos of him as a kid, special moments in his life, military (if he served) are all good types as well as hobbies (fishing, camping, etc). Getting a head start is a good idea. One last thing, if you can get a good photo of him before he passes, do it. You'll be glad you did.

Sorry to hear about your step dad. In a time like this all I can say is spend time with him and get to know the man before he's gone and then for the eulogy write about and talk about the man he was a poem is a good way to do it but remember to ask others what they remember about him or what made him special to them and go from there. I hope this helped and my prayers and condolences are with you and your family.

remember good memories. i don't know if appropriate, but i saw a movie where they actually had a "service" while the person was still alive so they could appreciate all the people that came.
