At the office of a manager, agent, or casting agent, one-on-ones are usually done from an interview 'chair.' Easily moveable. And there is usually also a bare expanse of wall for video-taping readings. People legitimately hiring want an actor or actress to stand. Sitting on a couch, the body is not visible, the body language is stifled, and it is harder to project. If there is, in fact, a couch in the office, and no windows, begin to worry if the interviewer closes the door.

Ofcourse there is!!!! Hollywood, Bollywood, Corporates!! Everywhere there is a casting couch!!! Its too bad that people take undue advantage of their position and exploit others.......Shows that people cant resist temptation if they have a chance! But still, when people are willing to sacrifice this much for the sake of their career, no one is complaining!! I dont think there wud be a lot of people who will resist if given a chance to use their position to cast someone on a couch!!!Strong morals are a thing of past!

Hrmm.. I had never heard such a technical description of a "casting couch". I always thought that, well suffice it to say that I thought it had less admirable connotations of various acts that an aspiring actor might do on a producer/directors couch. I shall hang my head in shame.

The term had to come from somewhere. And I'm sure there's more than one.
