My husband has been deployed in Iraq for 8months now and when he calls me he sounds so sad and stressed out. I wish I knew something good that I could tell him but I just don't know the right words to say. Other than everything will be okay.

Send care packages as much as possible. I bought a Food Sealer and send baked brownies, cookie bars, and rice krispie treats to my husband. He loves them. It keeps him close to home. the post office will give you free materials for priority shipping if you need it. Contact me for that number. Send pictures often. I make it a point to send my husband a package every week so he has something to look forward too. It is the things from home that he likes the most. I send him actual newspapers so he can feel like he is here. Send him handwritten letters so that he can carry them on him and read them. Send wallet sized pictures. Walmart can do this for you. that way he can carry them on him. Setup a MySpace page with pictures and messages to him so he can view it each time he has a chance to get to the Internet. Set it to private if you don't want anyone else to see. Email me if you want to chat or want to brainstorm more ideas.

Tell him the fire was very small and that the cleaning crew should be able to get most of the smoke smell out of the house. The septic system (or other major expense) should not be all that bad as you put it on credit at a mere 24%. Also say that both of your twins are healthy and should be born on time in about two months. They were not harmed when you totaled the car when you ran the red light and hit the police car.

When he's freaked about all of this, tell him there was no fire, the septic system is working fine, you are not pregnant, and the car was not involved in an accident of any kind. Tell him he gets to take you out to dinner when he gets home in X months.

Maybe there is a web site you can share his address so others can write him. Cards and letters always make people happy!

I just had another idea...go to a near by elementary school (okay so you may have to wait until September) but ask a teacher if they would have their class write him! My kids did that last year...I hear the person they wrote too was just so touched! And they wrote back.

Why don't you ask him. I suppose he's homesick. Some guys on the other hand like the stress of a combat zone. I would suppose he's National Guard. For most young unmarried soldiers overseas duty usually beats stateside duty at least that's the way it used to be.However he's married he probably misses you.

Tell him how much he and all the others are respected, appreciated, and loved by every person in America. Guys {and girls} like him make me proud to be an American. Of course, not everyone agrees with what's going on in Iraq...But everyone agrees that our fine, brave soldiers are the reason for this being the greatest country in the world. My love to both of you!! Peace!

Try letting him know that the household is in good order.
Tell him that you and the kids really look forward to him coming home so he must take good care of himself.

Let him have a goal(a nice, warm, clean home) to look forward to. Hopefully, he will untie the rest of the knots himself.
