the time showing on the clock will be right twice a day. If it stops at 1 o'clock then it will show correct time at 1am and 1pm.

The clock is in one position, but it will show a correct time once during the AM and once during the PM.

The clock is broken, no good, but it is right twice a day, so don't be dumber than a stopped clock.

The literal meaning is kind of self explanatory, it is an analog clock, and even though it doesn't change, eventually, if you look at it the right two times a day, you see the proper time
Figuratively, it means a f*ck up got something right for once.

it means that....say the clock is stopped at 12:24 it doesn't matter if it's a.m. or p.m......it will be right 2x's a day....the reason people say this is that they are being sarcastic....like: "Old Bill was right about it raining today.",says Farmer Bob...."Well even a stopped clock is right two times a day!", says Gus.....does that help?....I had seen a movie a long time ago explaining this but i can't remember what it is.

Nothing is completely wrong...

If you stop a clock at, lets say 11:00, it will be right at 11:00 a.m. and p.m..

So, before refusing an idea or a thought, look deeper. Maybe there`s some kind of logic behind it.

the first person has it right.. when you look at an analog watch if the hour hand is at 2 and the minute hand is at 6 indicating 2:30 it will mean 2:30am and then 2:30 pm

Surely you jest? O.K.....there are 24 hours in 1 day.....So If it is 12:15 in the A.M...................In twelve more hours it will be
12:15 in the afternoon? Meaning that if your clock was broke and the time shown is 12:15...Get it? ...

Actually, "cheevis" has it right. It is a old Polish saying that refers to the unlikelihood of the "villiage idiot" being right, but that even a fool can "get it right" from time to time.
