I'm guessing you must be bad if the instructor keeps staring at you, but keep at it, because practice makes perfect! ^_^

It's OK and you're not bad. We teachers understands that, as a first timer we really focus on you more. If your not getting the steps that fast it's fine, no problem. We are here to teach those who want to learn, so show your teacher that you want to learn what she/he is teaching. Be on time always and make that extra efforts. Another thing relax and focus. Don't think of other stuff like problems, home works or tests. When you're in the class your mind and body is presently there. Also, do your usual warm up and practice at home dear, all what she/he taught for the day. Because that's one way that you will get the steps better and because maybe your quite shy at class at least at home you can challenge yourself and bring the best in you. Your teacher is only one and how many are you in class? You have to be patient and a hard working person with discipline and courage. God bless and hope I helped you.

NO. I took hip hop for the first time this jyear too, and it was the same way. Just practice. A lot. and chances are if your teacher is staring at you, she may be just amking sure your getting it at least a little. Who knows? she could be thinking, "WOW, that girl has got some serious potential." You really need to be comfortable with yourself for hiphop, so go in front of a mirror. Pop. Lock. Body roll. Attack those moves. Also, watch some SO You Think You can dance. Wednesdays @ 8 on Fox, there is always hiphop so you can try to pick up some pointers. GOOD LUCK AND DON'T BE DISCOURAGED!

No I am sure you are not bad, she is just probably making sure you are keeping up and are getting the steps. When I was an assistant teacher, I would constantly look at the dancers to make sure they are getting the steps. If you feel like you need help with the moves, ask another person in the class to help you out. This way you might be able to make new friends!

When a teacher in dance class stares at you he/she is studying you to see how he/she can help you. Corrections in a dance class are actually a compliment because it means that they are paying attention to you. Keep practicing the steps in sequence slowly, and when you get them try speeding up a little at a time. Eventually you will get what is called "motor/muscle memory" where your body will do the steps in sequence without having to think of every little detail of the step. You achieve this with lots of practice and it takes a few years.

Hang in there. You're probably doing just fine.
Practice. Practice. Practice.

As a dance teacher, being stared at is not always bad. But if you feel subconcious about it, constantly change your position in the room each class. Maybe the teacher wants you to relax a little, let it flow a little better or give better eye contact and expression. Practice and enjoy it. Be completely in it!!!!

If this is something you really want to do, stick with it. If you start feeling uncomfortable when the teacher stares at you, just politely ask him/her a question, show you are very interested and are trying hard. Don't give up. You'll eventually get it. It takes lots of practice. Good luck! :)

Don't know, he is the teacher and his job is to look at you and try to figure out how he can help you or even if you need help, if you need more help he should help you, go in early and ask him for help or even at the end of the class you might want to approach him and ask if he can help because you feel you might need a little more help than what you are getting at this point and he will probably tell you how you are doing so far.

right away you think your bad? no, everyone has to start out somewhere. to some people dance comes naturally and some people have learn further than others. your teacher might have been staring at you thinking your good or thinking about your potential. if its a beginning class most people will be in the same boat as you. good luck!

You are dancing for fun. If you have never taken dance lessons before, you are suppose to be bad. That is y you are taking the lessons. You will get better. Just don't worry about how well (or not so well) that you are doing, just make sure you are having fun and try to learn something new. Who really cares how good you are?

you will get better
